FORMER MISSOURI PACIFIC GP38-2 NO.2118 FEBRUARY 6,2010.
Title:  FORMER MISSOURI PACIFIC GP38-2 NO.2118 FEBRUARY 6,2010.
Description:  Former Missouri Pacific GP38-2 No.2118 renumbered to 618 rests at Union Pacific's Provo Yard. There's an amazing story to 618, If one travels back in time to 1907, 618 was a Baldwin built 2-8-0 constructed for the Oregon Short Line. Number 618 spent most of its working career on branchlines in Southern Idaho. Fast forward to the late 1950's and 618 worked out of Provo hauling cars of molten iron from Ironton to Geneva Steel. Baldwin built 2-8-0 (UP 618) now works on the Heber Valley Railroad. GP38-2 No.618 shown here is a former Missouri Pacific locomotive built by EMD in September 1974; just a ''YOUNG PUP'' compared to the Baldwin built 2-8-0. Both have a lot in common in that the Missouri Pacific and steam locomotives no longer exist. I would like to thank Mr. James S.Belmont for providing this valuable information.

MISSOURI PACIFIC REFLECTIONS AT PROVO,UTAH FEBRUARY 7,2010.
Title:  MISSOURI PACIFIC REFLECTIONS AT PROVO,UTAH FEBRUARY 7,2010.
Description:  On a nice Sunday afternoon, Provo's UP RCL Crew found it in their hearts to tie five former Missouri Pacific Geeps together to perform heavy switching duties at the UP Provo Yard. GP15-1 No.UPY 565 dates back to the Chicago & Eastern Illinois Railroad. It was purchased by C&EI in July 1976 and was numbered 1565 and kept its original number when C&EI was bought by the Missouri Pacific. How neat it is to see these classics now dressed in Union Pacific paint put up against the Wasatch Mountains of Utah. Back in the mid to late 1980's former Missouri Pacific GP38-2's worked on locals around the Provo Area in blue paint. Chances are that 703 worked the Provo area still in Missouri Pacific paint.

UNION PACIFIC'S PROVO LOCAL.UNIVERSITY AVENUE,PROVO,UTAH.APRIL 7,2010.
Title:  UNION PACIFIC'S PROVO LOCAL.UNIVERSITY AVENUE,PROVO,UTAH.APRIL 7,2010.
Description:  Union Pacific's 41 local pulls into Provo with an eight car train with a newly installed signal bridge to embrace it. UP 703 was originally built in July 1980 as Missouri Pacific 2203. UPY 566 was C&EI/MP No.1566 built in July 1976. My speculation about UPY 566 is that it was probably only under the Chicago & Eastern Illinois flag for a short time when the Missouri Pacific merged it into its system.
